MOBILE MEASUREMENTS OF BLACK CARBON IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ŽELEZNIKI

Black carbon, produced solely from the incomplete combustion of carbon-based fuels, is a distinct pollution indicator mainly from traffic and biomass or fossil fuel combustion. Essential mobile measurements Using an Aethalometer AE33 in Železniki during January 2021 showed black carbon concentration varied significantly, with the highest levels in more populated areas, emphasising extensive use of wood biomass for heating. The measurements involving 15 campaigns, performed three times daily on a fixed route, confirmed spatial variations in pollution, which is important for understanding local air quality dynamics.
