/ ENERGY CLIMATE ATLAS - EPA
"Pathway to Net Zero"
01
The Energy and Climate Atlas (EPA) is a modern computational-analytical platform focused on decarbonisation and net-zero emissions in municipalities and cities. It dynamically supports decision-making processes and identifies and monitors economic, environmental, social, and technical indicators at different levels (technology, infrastructure, systems, sectors, services, spatial units, etc.).
EPA is a comprehensive platform consisting of three main modules:
Planning module: This module includes the identification, integration, analysis and development of new data in the fields of energy, environment, climate change, mobility and other related areas.
Management module: This module enables targeted, multi-faceted planning, monitoring, and reporting. Based on set objectives and identified actions, with feasibility assessments from economic, environmental, technical, and social perspectives, the success of achieving the goals is monitored according to set indicators. The module facilitates automated reporting for platforms such as the CDP/ICLEI and SECAP in NetZero Cities.
Collaboration module: This module ensures citizens and investors have visibility into possible investments or improvements in cities and municipalities and includes interdisciplinary and sociological aspects of energy end users.

The EPA platform offers a wide range of functionalities to support sustainable energy planning and management:
Data digitisation and automation: This enables the digitisation and automation of data, facilitating sustainable planning and management at the level of buildings, settlements, cities, municipalities, or regions.
Dynamic support: Provides dynamic support for decision-making with economic, environmental, social and technical indicators.
Emissions Monitoring: Enables automated reporting, calculation and monitoring of emissions by sector.
Economics: Shows the cost of identified measures or investments and their payback periods.
Partnerships and investments: Contributes to establishing partnerships and informs about investment opportunities based on current data and identified potential or spatial constraints in line with the municipality or city's vision.
FUNCTIONALITIES
EPA is designed for different user needs and scenarios:
House/city/municipality/regional level: The platform provides insight into the potential of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), Energy Efficiency (EE), the acceptability of infrastructure placement, and other related data (e.g., urban heat island, urban vegetation cadastre).
Comprehensive reporting: Provides automated reporting on achieving set objectives and indicators.
Investment support: Provides access to detailed information on opportunities to invest in renewable energy, energy efficiency and green infrastructure to mitigate climate change.
Education and research resources: Provides tools and data for educational institutions and researchers to analyse and develop new measures.
Policy and Planning Support: Facilitates policy development and automated strategy creation, e.g. Digital Local Energy Concept.
