The IPPCP project aimed to put the Data Space approach into practice and test how secure, governed data exchange can be used in real municipal scenarios.

For the Envirodual d.o.o. team, the project was an opportunity to do more than connect to an existing Data Space. Using Eclipse Tractus-X technologies, we helped build and deploy the pilot infrastructure that enabled organisations to share data securely under agreed terms. This gave us hands-on experience in turning the Data Space concept into a working environment.

Our work focused on several broader areas:

 ✅ Data Space infrastructure

✅ Identity, trust and data sovereignty

 ✅ Data integration and interoperability

✅ Secure and governed data exchange

 ✅ Real municipal use cases

We worked with data on energy consumption, emissions, temperature, humidity and air quality. Existing municipal systems continued to perform their core role, while the Data Space provided an additional governed layer for publishing and discovering data, access control and secure exchange.

We collaborated with partners from Slovenia and Spain, including the City of Ljubljana, Zaragoza City Council and Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), and together developed and tested different approaches to using Data Spaces.

For us, the project provided valuable practical experience in Data Space architecture and deployment, Eclipse Tractus-X, EDC, digital identity, data sovereignty, Smart Data Models and governed data exchange between organisations.

What’s next? We would like to expand the use cases, integrate additional data sources and continue moving from a pilot implementation towards a more mature operational model.

Thank you to all project partners for the collaboration, knowledge sharing and joint work in putting the European approach to trusted data exchange into practice. 🙏
