🚶‍♀️🚲 European Mobility Week 2026 in Cerknica

In September, Envirodual d.o.o. and the Municipality of Cerknica successfully carried out European Mobility Week. The programme ran throughout the month and once again brought together numerous organisations, schools, kindergartens, associations and residents.

🚶‍🚌 We are especially pleased with the great response to the first-ever Walking Bus (Pešbus) at Notranjski odred Cerknica Primary School and its branch school in Begunje pri Cerknici. Throughout September, children walked to school accompanied by volunteers from the Cerknica Pensioners’ Association, the Cerknica Association of Drivers and Car Mechanics, and the Slovenian Red Cross – Cerknica–Loška dolina–Bloke Local Branch.

🚲 Martin Krpan Kindergarten received bicycle helmets, while Notranjski odred Cerknica Primary School received three bicycles and bicycle helmets, making it possible for children without their own bike to safely take their cycling test.

🎨 From 14 to 20 September, the car park next to the Cerknica Cultural Centre was temporarily closed to traffic and turned into an exhibition of graffiti created by children in collaboration with the Asvalt Association, giving them an introduction to street art. On Saturday, 19 September, the same space hosted a sustainable mobility festival with stalls, a free bike repair workshop at Bike Center Cerknica and a group bike ride. In addition to the bike ride, the Green Karst Regional Mobility Centre organised other month-long sustainable mobility activities and an exhibition at the library. 🚲🚌
